In recent years I have had plenty to say about the way NASCAR conducts its business. There are have some suggestions that I take over the sanctioning body. I’ve been waiting by the phone for the call from Daytona, but it hasn’t happened yet

It has somehow fallen upon me to monitor and report NASCAR’s messes. Things continue to get worse and if I didn’t know any better, I’d say the folks in Daytona Beach are doing everything to ruin our sport.

Ten years ago we were experiencing the start of a new century with typical optimism. Along came 2001. The first big event was the Daytona 500. The very last lap of the proceedings went very bad with the death of Dale Earnhardt. The crash didn’t seem that bad, but when Fox went off the air, I had a bad feeling.

Bruno Brackey, the winningest driver in Long Island history died Feb. 3 from complications from pneumonia. He was 90 years old

On consecutive days last week President Barack Obama gave the annual State of the Union address and then NASCAR President Brian France stumbled through the state of the sport.
One speech was loaded with bull. The other was just plain silly. You can figure out which was which.
Bill Deakin, longtime driver and owner of stock cars and three quarter midgets, died Jan. 25. He was 90 years old
Our sport has become so safe that safety is a subject seldom discussed anymore. There is a large legion of fans who probably don’t realize how dangerous racing was.
