Jason Scruggs scored his second-straight Pro Extreme win Sunday night , while Travis Harvey picked up his career-first Pro Nitrous title in the Professional Drag Racers Ass’n (PDRA) Mid America Open at Gateway Motorsports Park.

In the third and final qualifying round for the inaugural Professional Drag Racers Ass’n Mid-America Open at Gateway Motorsports Park, Frankie Taylor reclaimed the number-one position in NAS Racing Pro Extreme that he’d lost two days earlier to defending class champion Bubba Stanton.

Bubba Stanton, the defending Professional Drag Racers Ass’n NAS Racing Pro Extreme champion, said that Gateway Motorsports Park has never before been kind to him, but he hopes that’s about to change this weekend during the inaugural PDRA Mid-America Open. Stanton got off to a good start by placing atop the 16-car NAS Racing Pro Extreme field after just two of three scheduled qualifying sessions were completed for most classes due to recurring rain storms in the St. Louis area.

Hill Holds Off Tasca At Rockingham

After losing the first two races Sunday in a special Spring Civil Wars showdown with Yankee invader Carl Tasca, Carolina’s Roy Hill earned a measure of revenge in the finale when he pushed his Cobra Jet Mustang to the quickest quarter mile in the history of the high-performance Ford breed.

Beneath a full moon shining brightly over the flatlands of northwestern Louisiana, Jason Scruggs and Mike Castellana scored victories Saturday, in Pro Extreme and Pro Nitrous, the top two classes in the inaugural PDRA Cajun Nationals at Thunder Road Raceway Park, near Shreveport.

Only Pro Jr. Dragster driver David Roloff managed to step up and take over the top spot in the fourth and final round of qualifying for the inaugural Professional Drag Racers Ass’n Cajun Nationals.

Brandon Snider stepped up in the third and final round of the day to take over the provisional Pro Extreme qualifying lead at the inaugural Professional Drag Racers Ass’n Cajun Nationals. Also tops in the PDRA pro classes with one more session to go on Saturday were Jay Cox in Pro Nitrous, Gerry Capano in Pro Boost, and defending Pro Extreme Motorcycle champion Eric McKinney.

The “Nitrous Wars” of the Professional Drag Racers Ass’n (PDRA) comes to Thunder Road Raceway Park in Gilliam, La., this weekend (Apr. 30-May 2), as part of the inaugural PDRA Cajun Nationals at the track just north of Shreveport.

Although it has been playing out at Rockingham Dragway for almost two decades, the Roush Yates Performance Products Civil Wars takes on a more legitimate North-South flavor May 1-3, when the quickest and fastest Cobra Jet Mustang from north of the Mason-Dixon takes on its Southern counterpart in a best-of-three match race for high performance bragging rights.

At the end of a rare three-day event for the Professional Drag Racers Ass’n (PDRA), North Carolina drag racing legends Todd Tutterow and Rickie Smith won in Pro Extreme and Pro Nitrous, the top two classes during the 2nd annual PDRA Spring Nationals at the state’s historic Rockingham Dragway.
