After Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing provided the “Feel-Good Story” in the first three days of Indianapolis 500 practice as rookie drivers Josef Newgarden of Nashville, Tenn., and Bryan Clauson of Noblesville, Ind., helped pace the drivers in practice, Tuesday’s frantic session saw the major teams in the IZOD IndyCar Series leap to the front.

The third day of practice for the 2012 Indianapolis 500. Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing rookie Josef Newgarden had the fastest lap of the day once again, while Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay was 2nd quick. They and Graham Rahal, who had an engine issue, discuss their days.

A flurry of activity in the final hour of practice saw the fast time of the day change numerous times as teams searched for speed out of the new Dallara DW12 chassis with turbocharged engines. But at the end of the day, the driver who ended up on top was once again rookie Josef Newgarden of Henderson, Tenn.
