You probably don’t like it, but NASCAR had to penalize Matt Kenseth on Tuesday.

Very simply — NASCAR got it wrong. On Tuesday evening NASCAR suspended Matt Kenseth for the next two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events after he wrecked Joey Logano from the lead late in Sunday’s race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. This is hogwash.

Though the network — NBC Sports — covering Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway didn’t acknowledge it, unruly race fans unhappy with the controversial finish of the race (though, most would have had no issue had Dale Earnhardt Jr. been declared the winner) littered the track with beer cans.
