History Favors Myers At Bowman Gray

Bowman Gray Stadium celebrated its historic 1000th event on Saturday, and it was fitting for the checkered that night to belong to Burt Myers – a man whose family has been active competitors at the stadium since its early days.

VanDyke Inherits Seventh Kingsport Victory

Kres VanDyke and Zeke Shell battled throughout the First Kingsport Credit Union Late Model feature Friday at Kingsport Speedway, with Shell finally getting past VanDyke to take the lead 16 laps from the finish. Shell took the checkered flag for his third victory of the season, but following post-race technical inspection he was disqualified, thus moving VanDyke up one finishing position to give him his seventh win of the season.

With Kingsport Speedway celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2015, several drivers that raced at the tradition-steeped facility in the Model City through the years gathered Friday for Racers Reunion Night at the Races.

Six champions were crowned Tuesday after the final round of the 22nd annual Bojangles’ Summer Shootout Series. Battles came down to the wire as several competitors vied for a chance to win, but it was Jordan Black, Tom Pistone, Sheldon Crouse, Chase Purdy, Daniel Wilk and Ashton Higgins who took home the glory in the prestigious series.

One of the largest crowds of the season was present for Food City Night at the Races at Kingsport Speedway on Friday, which saw Kres VanDyke make a statement with a dominating performance in capturing his sixth First Kingsport Credit Union Late Model Stock Car victory of the season.
