Time For Super Fans 2007

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y.

With Santa about to take flight with the usual toys for those who were good and lumps of coal for those who spun someone out without a good reason or refused to get in line where they belonged for a restart, it’s time to start filling another bag.
No, not a second toy bag for Santa’s sleigh. The SuperFans mail bag, from which we traditionally do three columns listing who went to the most races around the USA during the past season and their opinions on what they saw. Tell us how many race programs you attended, identify the best and worst events, facilities and driving performances, and point out the speedway food that left lasting memories, positive or negative.
Longtime readers are aware that our “feature results” are split into two categories: Amateurs or “ticket buyers” and Pros — those who gain entry through sanctioning body employment, press pass or other non-paying means. They’re also aware that the newspaper space available shrinks each year, so please be concise with your thoughts and ratings.
The National Speedway Directory traditionally awards plaques to the winners in each division, for which we thank longtime supporter Alan Brown. He always manages to meet with the winners somewhere during the following season for a formal presentation while he distributes his publication, the “bible” of SuperFans, across the nation.
Please remember that only “real” racing counts, so no dog races, bicycle events, snowmobiles or things of that ilk. And it’s for fun, not blood, so please be honest. We post the results for the start of Speed Weeks in Daytona, so we need your info by the end of January at the latest. And please remind your friends, the ones who have never entered or the guy who always forgets to file until he reads the results, then complains he could have won, to get going.
Entries will reach us by mail at 7 Mourningkill Dr., Ballston Spa, N.Y. 12020 or electronically at rjhmedia@juno.com.
Good luck to all.
