Big Blocks Preparing For Cornwall Invasion

“There’s certainly a disadvantage with the small block, especially early on. The Big-Blocks are well over a half-second quicker in time trials than small blocks at Cornwall,” Raabe said. “It’s pretty difficult to get in the show with a small block, but as the night goes on, the small blocks and the Big-Blocks more or less evens out.”

Like last year, Raabe will be running Sunday’s Super DIRTcar Series 100-lapper. Unlike last year, Raabe’s team faces the challenge of returning to the track the very next night for Monday’s DIRTcar 358-Modified Series.

Joining the DIRTcar 358-Modified Series Monday will be the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified and DIRTcar Pro Stock Series.

A rookie this year in the Sportsman Modified division, Joey Ladouceur has already logged countless laps at Cornwall Motor Speedway in a Pro Stock, and is ready to challenge Cornwall Sportsman Modified standouts Chris Herbison, Corey Wheeler, and others.

“I’m shooting for the top 5, that would be good for me, but with the amount of experience and wins I have at Cornwall in Pro Stock, maybe that’s enough to shake one out,” Ladouceur said.

Ladouceur has only had one chance to run in the Sportsman Modified at Cornwall, finishing fourth. With a third-place finish in the Sportsman Modified Series at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park, he has demonstrated his ability to compete with the best in the division.

“It wasn’t as drastic of a difference as I thought,” Ladouceur reflected on his first Sportsman race at Cornwall. “The handling of the cars is different. But with the characteristics of that track – it’s such a small track and the grooves are very distinct, so we were able to pick up the line pretty good. Obviously, I still have to get used to the type of car, so that’s why there’s still a little speed left to be had, but we’re definitely competitive right out of the box.”
