Decker Grabs Another Moody Mile Pole

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Billy Decker proved again Friday just how much he knows about the New York State Fairgrounds.

In DIRTcar 358-Modified Series qualifying Friday afternoon at the one-mile dirt oval, Decker again turned fast time to claim the pole for Saturday’s Gander Mountain 150.

His time of 31.702 seconds was actually quicker than his pole-winning time of 32.997 seconds in qualifying for the Sunday’s VP Small Engines Fuel 200 for big-block modifieds.

Danny Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Tim McCreadie, Billy Dunn and Tim Fuller rounded out the “locked-in” top six qualifiers.

“I like it,” quipped Decker when asked if he was happy with the sweep. “But the other guys are closing the gap. The track is less rough and there’s less standing water inside turn one, so the track is much better. Now we have to find out if it’ll take rubber or just get slippery.”
