CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – Devin Gilpin held off multiple challengers to capture Wednesday’s DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals victory at Atomic Speedway.

Gilpin jumped out to the early lead, but found himself battling with outside polesitter Cody Parker for the top spot. The duo battled hard ahead of Kenny Johnson and Jackie Boggs. Boggs reeled in and passed Parker, then did the same to Gilpin. Boggs then began to flex his muscle out front. However, at the halfway point of the race Brandon Ramsey spun and Seth Daniels looped it to avoid contact.

Boggs had no time to react and clipped Daniels, bending the front suspension on his D-4 mount. Gilpin inherited the lead and withstood several late race bids from Dan Ebert to claim the win.

“I was lucky tonight. I had a second place car and really hated to see what happened to Jackie Boggs,” said Gilpin. “I came around and saw him crossed-up and couldn’t believe it. I am very fortunate and a blessed young man to be able to drive these race cars each and every night, and tonight to be able to stand here in victory lane.”

Kenny Johnson finished third, followed by Jeremy Rayburn and Parker. Heat wins went to Parker, Johnson and Gilpin.

The finish:

Devin Gilpin, Dan Ebert, Kenny Johnson, Jeremy Rayburn, Cody Parker, Phillip Bapst, Taylor Cook, Fireball Pinkerton, Adam Colley, Jacob Poel, Kenny Wallace, David McWilliams, Scott Gerdeman, Brandon Ramsey, Steve Clemmons, Jimmy Lennex, Kevin Dulaney, Jackie Boggs, Seth Daniels, Shawn Holliday, Brandon Oliver, Nathan Loney.
