RUSH Late Models Add Lernerville Dates
PULASKI, Pa. – Officials with the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Series has added several events at Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway to the tours 2013 schedule.
A Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Weekly Series event will be held on May 10, while the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Touring Series will make stops on July 5 and then close out the year at the Sarver, Pa., oval on Oct. 25-26.
The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Late Models will join the All Star Circuit of Champion Sprint Cars in this big early season event. RUSH racers will be able to accumulate points toward the $25,000+ Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Weekly Series Championship. Eligible Futures Cup racers will also be able to count their finishes toward the $3,000 title.
Lernerville joins Sportsman’s Speedway in Knox, Pa., as the second speedway to host Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Weekly Series events at non-weekly sanctioned facilities. A third speedway will be announced soon.
On July 5-6, RUSH will team up with the BOSS Wingless Sprints at both Lernerville and Sharon Speedways on back-to-back nights. There will be a lot of added importance to the night for RUSH racers as drivers will be looking to accumulate points toward four big point programs.
Not only will Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Touring Series points be on the line, but racers will again be able to add their finishes toward the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Weekly Series and Futures Cup titles.
In addition, an exciting new concept, the Pace Performance Summer Chase will just be getting underway. Top 10 racers in points at each weekly-sanctioned track and the Touring Series, will be able to count the Lernerville event toward this $10,000+ championship that runs through Labor Day Weekend.
The Oct. 25-26 event will close out the season for both Lernerville and the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Touring Series. The fifth annual DIRTcar Roundup Steel City Stampede will feature nine of the region’s classes of race cars. This growing event will crown the inaugural Touring champion and will award $2,000 to the feature winner. An open practice will be held on Oct. 24. There will be a rain date of Oct. 27.
“We have been very fortunate to have some of the most prestigious speedways in the eastern United States believe in our Series to include us on their schedules in our inaugural season,” acknowledged RUSH Co-Director Vicki Emig. “We have to thank Gary Risch and World Racing Group for allowing us to be showcased at the renowned Lernerville Speedway and be included in these three big events.”
