CLERMONT, Ind. – Persistent rain from Tropical Storm Isaac has forced officials with the National Hot Rod Ass’n to postpone the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Auto-Plus until next weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway.

“The persistent weather has affected the racing surface and we have chosen to make the tough decision to postpone the race until next weekend,” said Graham Light, NHRA senior vice president racing operations. “We are planning to run the remainder of the event next weekend on Saturday and Sunday.”

Eliminations were scheduled to be held today, but the same bad weather that has also canceled ARCA and USAC events forced a change. The NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series will return to Lucas Oil Raceway next Saturday, Sept. 8, for the final two rounds of qualifications and the NHRA Traxxas Funny Car Showdown.

Final eliminations for the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Auto-Plus will be held on Sunday, Sept. 9.
