DSR Releases Rob Wendland

BROWNSBURG, Ind. — Veteran crew chief Rob Wendland has been released from his duties as crew chief for Don Schumacher Racing.

Wendland, who had been with the team since 2011, was scheduled to tune the Make-A-Wish Dodge Charger R/T driven by Tommy Johnson Jr.

“I wish Rob nothing but the best,” said team owner Don Schumacher. “We’re very grateful for his time with us.”
Wendland was the crew chief in each of Johnny Gray’s seven Funny Car victories.

Until a new crew chief is named for the position, DSR Director of Racing Todd Okuhara will take the lead with support from the venerable pool of DSR Funny Car crew chiefs that will oversee the Johnson-driven entry.
