Gordie Bonin, 65

Former NHRA Funny Car driver Gordie Bonin died Nov. 29 in Las Vegas.

Known as “240 Gordie” because his cars frequently ran in the 240 mph zone during the 1970s, Bonin was 65 years old.

According to reports, Bonin had recently been treated for symptoms of heat stroke at a Las Vegas hospital where his body was found in a local hotel.

Bonin drove for multiple teams in the Funny Car and Top Fuel classes during his career and won nine NHRA national events.
