NHRA Jr. Drag Finals Locations Set

GLENDORA, Calif. – NHRA has confirmed that the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals and Eastern Conference Finals will be held at Bandimere Speedway in Denver and Bristol Dragway in Tennessee for the 2013 season.

The two events highlight the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League season.

The NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals will head back to Bandimere Speedway, June 27-29, 2013, while the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals will return to Bristol Dragway one month later, July 25-27.

In 2013, both tracks will also be hosting activities and events throughout the weekend in addition to the racing action that will occur on the track. Both will also host events earlier in the week leading up to the Conference Finals events.

“Bandimere Speedway and Bristol Dragway put their heart into these events as do the teams and participants,” said Eric Lotz, director of field marketing, NHRA. “We’re thrilled to be returning to both of these first class facilities as we welcome in our new partnership with Summit Racing. These kids are the future of NHRA Drag Racing and we are extremely excited about the 2013 NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League season.”

Bandimere Speedway has hosted the event since 2000 when the Eastern and Western Conference Finals were created, and Bristol Dragway has played host to the Eastern Conference Finals since 2004.

Nearly 1,000 kids compete for individual and team honors at the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern and Western Conference Finals, with nearly $50,000 being awarded at each event including $2,500 and an NHRA Wally champion’s trophy to each individual winner.

Created in 1992, the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League allows kids between the ages of 8 and 17 to experience the thrill of motorsports competition in a controlled environment at tracks in each of NHRA’s seven geographic divisions.

The NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League creates family involvement in drag racing at an affordable level. Many of the league’s former participants have gone on to compete in other NHRA classes. Top Fuel racers Shawn Langdon (a two-time Super Comp national champion) and Morgan Lucas, and Pro Stock driver Erica Enders, are among the league’s graduates while 2011 NHRA Lucas Oil Stock national champion Joe Santangelo II and the 2010 Lucas Oil Super Stock national champion Ryan McClanahan are former Conference Finals champions.
