JOILET, Ill. – Ben Carey and Bill Windham, the owners of the new Petrolhead Apparel line, have announced a multi-tiered sponsorship program in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series that will include a souvenir trailer on the midway and marketing partnership with top-ranked Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Scotty Pollacheck.

The Petrolhead brand will make its debut at this weekend’s NHRA event at Route 66 Raceway near Joliet, Ill. Pollacheck will also debut the new Petrolhead team colors on his Matt Smith Racing-prepared Buell entry.

“First and foremost, I am thrilled to be representing Petrolhead Apparel,” said Pollacheck. “It’s no secret that I’ve been anxious to find a marketing partner to help take my program to the next level and I believe that Petrolhead will be a perfect fit. Ben Carey and Bill Windam are two guys who love drag racing and love motorcycles and their Petrolhead brand will be a great addition to the Matt Smith Racing team. Having the Petrolhead apparel trailer at the races will allow our wonderful fans to buy a lot of very cool items. This is a big step forward for me and one that I hope will lead towards my first win and first national event Wally.”

After a career-best sixth place finish last year in the Pro Stock Motorcycle standings, Pollacheck is off to a strong start in 2014. Through the first five events of the season he has a runner-up, a semifinal and a quarterfinal finish to his credit. Pollacheck comes into this weekend’s event in Joliet as the sixth-ranked rider in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class and sits just 23 points behind his teammate Matt Smith.

“Coming into this season, I wasn’t sure if I’d even be running for the championship,” Pollacheck said. “I’ve been funding the bike out of my own pocket and we’ve been on a race-to-race basis for most of the season. Now, I feel confident that we can go out and compete for the title.”

The Petrolhead Apparel line is the result of a partnership between Carey and Windam. Australian native Carey, the lead guitarist for the band Lifehouse, is a life-long motorsports fan who has an affinity for motorcycles. California-based Windham is also heavily into drag racing and motorcycles. During his career, he has raced an NHRA Pro Stock car. He is currently competing in the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series.

“I have known Ben for quite a while and we share a love for just about anything that is fast, especially motorcycles,” said Windham. “In Australia, where Ben is from, a Petrolhead is the same as a Gearhead here in the States. We thought that it would be an appropriate name for an apparel company and the idea just took off from there. We’ve stocked our shiny new Petrolhead trailer with a lot of really awesome stuff and we’re looking forward to meeting a lot of fans at the races.
