Down On Danica
I have been a Danica fan since she first hit the Indy circuit, hoping the best for her. When she won her first IndyCar race, I was really happy for her — plus, going down in history as the first female driver to win in an Indy car.
But she really lost a lot of my support and no doubt a lot of other fans when she did the interview with Dave Despain on Wind Tunnel with those huge, ugly sunglasses that covered half her face. How rude. I think she has been watching too much NASCAR, where the drivers think they are cool with them on.
You don’t see the announcers wearing them. People like to see your eyes when you are talking. Carl Edwards and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. usually take theirs off.

More On Wives
My wife also enjoys NSSN. She would like it if you would print pictures and info about drivers’ wives.

Toledo Memories
Being a race fan since 1949 here in the Toledo, Ohio area, I’ve seen many changes in the racing world — midgets, roadsters, stock cars, super mods, sprints and USAC champ cars. I went to Motor City Speedway, Ft. Miami and most of the smaller tracks around here.
Kenny Nemire, a winning driver here took me under his wing when I was 13. Sadly, he was killed at Raceway Park in Toledo in 1957. I got to put a remembrance to him in your Public Forum column last July. Thanks for that opportunity.
I really like the articles and layout in your paper. I like your editor’s notebook, Lesson in History, Through the Lens and blips on guys like Jim Clark in the April 16 paper. Don’t change anything and keep up the great work.

From The Right
Concerning the letter to the editor in the April 2 issue (Playing Politics), where everything was blamed on greedy Republicans and greedy NASCAR owners: Who does that writer think foots the bill for everything in this country? It’s hard-working Republicans.
This country is 50/50 Republican and Democrat. Forty-four percent of the citizens of this country paid no taxes in 2006. What party do you think they belong to?
Everyone in this great country has the same chance to do well, to get ahead, to live the American dream. Some choose not to, either due to ignorance, stupidity or laziness. Some have medical problems and cannot work, those people need to be taken care of.
But too many healthy Americans just sit back and let others do the heavy lifting. Let Stan boycott NASCAR. That’s his choice.

Spineless Busch?
Kyle Busch, not only did you wreck Dale Earnhardt, Jr., but you were too spineless to take the blame. You need to be driving in the Demolition Derby. You are not only spineless, but classless.
I really hope that you and Toyota never win another race.
