Rockingham Hosts First Test
ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Doors to the Rockingham Speedway have been opened for less than 10 days and the first on track test happened earlier this week.
Bryan Silas brought his No. 71 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team to Rockingham Speedway in preparation for the season ending Truck Series race this weekend in Homestead, Fla. Bryan ran several sessions on track Tuesday in his Gateway Insurance Chevrolet working on setups for the Ford 200.
“We had a great test today and I think we learned a lot for the upcoming races,” said Silas. “It was great to be on the Rockingham track. The track is so much fun and I have watched so many great races from here on TV. I’m honored to be the first driver to test at the track since it has been revived.”
This winter will be very busy for Rockingham Speedway with many Nextel Cup Series teams already booking test dates at the facility. ARCA Re/Max Series and Hooter’s Pro Cup Series teams will also be very busy testing at the track in preparation for the Carolina 500 ARCA race on May 4 and the season-ending Hooter’s Pro Cup American 200 on Nov. 1.
