Speedway’s Future Uncertain

BELMAR, N.J. — The future of the historic Wall Township Speedway is in question again.
Currently owned by Tim Shinn, Fred Archer, Joseph Sanzari and the J. Fletcher Creamer family, the 57-year-old third-mile asphalt oval located in Wall Township, N.J., has struggled through the last decade, but despite several ownership changes, opened year after year.
Shinn told the Atlantic City Press he fully intends to open the track in 2008 and said rumors that the decision to close the track has already been made were “totally baseless.”
Jim Morton, who served as Wall operations manager last year, and the remainder of his staff have been laid off and the track’s office phone has been disconnected.
