BDR Seeking ARCA RE/MAX Replacement For Annett
HIGH POINT, N.C. — Bill Davis Racing (BDR) has announced an open seat in its ARCA RE/MAX Series Toyota Camry, which was vacated by rookie Michael Annett when he moved to BDR’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team.
With former and current drivers such as Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Ward Burton and Scott Speed, BDR is looking for another funded or sponsored driver to join the list and compete for the team. For more information, contact business@billdavisracing.com.
Baker Named Sprint Hall Executive Director
KNOXVILLE, Iowa — National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Board of Directors President Mike Brooks announced Friday that racing industry veteran Bob Baker has accepted the position of executive director of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation, Inc., located in Knoxville, Iowa. Baker’s appointment follows the NSCHoF Board of Directors’ acceptance of former Executive Director Tom Schmeh’s request to move to the newly created position of curator.
Included in Baker’s vast racing résumé are positions serving as director of motorsports with Weld Racing and marketing director for the World of Outlaws sprint-car series under Ted Johnson. Baker was also well known as the general manager of both I-70 Speedway in Odessa, Mo., and Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., from 1994-96 and owner/general manager of the State Fair Racing Ass’n in Sedalia, Mo., from 1991-94.
Baker will oversee the operations of the facility and initiate and guide programs to further its mission of “promoting the future by preserving the past.”
Flooding Forces Adams County To Cancel Again
CORNING, Iowa — Rain has flooded Adams County Speedway to postpone the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event for the seventh time in only nine weeks.

Ohio Sprint Speedweek To Get Started June 22
CAMARGO, Ill. — Winged 410 sprint cars will converge on the state of Ohio for the 25th year of the UNOH Ohio Sprint Speedweek starting June 22 at Attica Raceway Park.
The second date at Wayne County Speedway, June 23, will still take place as the facility has agreed to open its gates one more time this season for the event. The sprint-car teams will then visit Hilltop Speedway on June 24, followed by Skyline Speedway June 25 and Fremont Speedway June 26.
Limaland Motorsports Park will host the June 27 event before the speedweek culminates at Eldora Speedway June 28.

Bill Elliott 50 Now Set For Oct. 25 At Dixie
WOODSTOCK, Ga. — Teaming up with Dixie Speedway and Motorsports Management Int’l, NASCAR driver Bill Elliott has rescheduled the inaugural Bill Elliott 50 dirt late-model event for Oct. 25.
Created last season, the event was postponed after Dixie Speedway Vice President and General Manager Mike Swims passed away in September after a long battle with cancer.
“I look forward to racing again at Dixie and putting on a show that would make Mike proud,” said Elliott, who began his racing career on the dirt tracks of Georgia.
The event is open to all drivers and many NASCAR drivers are expected to compete.

NHRA Chooses Edelman For Its PR Campaign
GLENDORA, Calif. — Adding to a long list of contracts to increase the mainstream accessibility of the NHRA, the organization has teamed with Edelman to provide support and counsel with the implementation of its national public relations campaign.
The NHRA recently extended its partnership with title sponsor the Coca-Cola Company for an additional two years and signed a partnership with global sports and entertainment firm IMG as well.
The Edelman team will be headed by Gregory Lee Hendricks and will be in charge of increasing the NHRA’s national profile and media presence.
Waterford Hills Celebrating Its 50th
CLARKSTON, Mich. — Waterford Hills Road Race Course is celebrating its 50-year anniversary with a special weekend Aug. 1-3, hosting vintage automobile displays and era-specific racing.
Starting as a short, one-lane dirt track in 1958, the now two-lane 1.5-mile asphalt course will host special events every weekend during the amateur club series. The 50th Anniversary Celebration weekend will feature a silent auction, a special banquet and races featuring single-seat open-wheel cars, sports cars, racing sedans and formula cars.

DEI, Cash Team For New ‘Man In Black’ Program
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Country Music Hall of Fame united racing and country music June 5 by honoring Johnny Cash and Dale Earnhardt with “The Man in Black” program.
Earnhardt’s daughter, Taylor, and Cash’s younger brother, Tommy, attended the event, which featured the unveiling of “The Man in Black” car sporting the names and likenesses of both men on the Earnhardt-style paint scheme.
