Clark Racing Holdings Purchases Charlotte-Based Sprint Cup Parts Supplier
CONCORD, N.C. — Clark Racing Holdings of New York has completed a deal to purchase Hutcherson-Pagan Auto Race Parts of Charlotte, N.C.
Hutcherson-Pagan was owned by longtime race car drivers Dick and Ron Hutcherson. Dick Hutcherson recently passed away.
Clark Racing Partners in 2006 also purchased BSR Auto Race Parts in Concord, N.C., from Butch Stevens and Bill Siefert.
BSR and Hutcherson-Pagan are the two main suppliers of auto race parts to NASCAR Sprint Cup teams.
While Hutcherson-Pagan was primarily Sprint Cup oriented, BSR is more diversified, encompassing the Nationwide and ARCA RE/MAX series and also sports-car racing, which Siefert now oversees for BSR.
Clark Racing Holdings, which includes former Nationwide Series driver Greg Clark, says it’ll be business as usual for Hutcherson-Pagan and BSR.
“You won’t notice many changes,” says Jack Sparks, who was hired recently as the president and CEO at BSR. Sparks has a vast background in the motorsports parts industry. His father, Art Sparks, was instrumental in developing value springs for S&W. Sparks is from San Clemente, Calif.
“We’ll keep both names,” said Sparks. “Why do you want to change something that’s been so traditional in NASCAR for such a long time?
“Our hopes and intentions are to provide better services and quicker supply of parts to the race teams as they need.”
BSR’s main parts building is located on U.S. 29, about a mile north of Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Hutcherson-Pagan is on U.S. Highway 21, which runs adjacent to Interstate 77, just north of Charlotte.
“We’ll keep both sites open as always,” said Sparks.
Clark Racing Holdings hopes to expand its presence into the short- track racing-parts market, including late models and dirt tracks.
“We’ll continue to grow our sports car and online computer markets, too,” said Sparks, “making it easier for our customers to do business with us.
“We are not changing any personnel at Hutcherson-Pagan or BSR. We might be adding a few more, that’s all.
“We’re hoping by combining resources we can deliver quicker and better and provide cheaper products for our customers.”
