Will Race North Of The Border For The First Time In 16 Years

NELLES CORNERS, Ontario — The ARCA RE/MAX Series will head to Canada for the first time since 1992 with its Cayuga ARCA RE/MAX 250 June 29 at Cayuga Motor Speedway.
In addition, the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will accompany the ARCA RE/MAX Series to the track June 28 for a 50-lap event. The 56-year-old-tour has only appeared in Canada eight times since its inception in 1967.

IMSA Adds Race At Waterford Speedbowl
OSWEGO, N.Y. — Jennerstown (Pa.) Speedway announced that due to financial concerns, it would no longer host the IMSA event scheduled for July 5.
However, due to the success of the IMSA season opener May 24 at Waterford Speedbowl, the series has added a second date at the track slated for Aug. 16.
The new date at Waterford Speedbowl will offer drivers a two-race weekend following the Ollie Silva Classic at Lee USA Speedway in New Hampshire. The IMSA still plans on holding an event at Jennerstown in 2009.
ORP Offers Special Ticket Package
INDIANAPOLIS — O’Reilly Raceway Park created the Three Night Super Saver and the Kroger 200 Inclusive, two new ticket offers created to save fans money for the upcoming 2008 Kroger SpeedFest July 24-26.
Kicking off July 24 with the Toyota Challenge Racing Classic USAC Midget race and the J.D. Byrider 100 for the Silver Crown series, the weekend will host the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on Friday and the NASCAR Nationwide Series on Saturday. The Three Night Super Saver offers all three nights of general admission for $76 per person, while the Kroger 200 Inclusive includes a reserved grandstand seat to Saturday’s race and an all-you-can-eat food coupon, excluding alcohol, for $59.
More Midgets, Mufflers Slated For Knoxville
KNOXVILLE, Iowa — The entry list has grown for this week’s seventh-annual Pepsi USAC Knoxville Midget Nationals, which is set for Friday and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, with more of the nation’s top midget drivers entering the fray.
Knoxville Raceway Director of Racing Ralph Capitani also announced that mufflers will be mandatory on the midget cars this year, but specific brands and models of those mufflers will be open.
Darren Hagen, Brady Bacon, Mike Hess, Brad Kuhn, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., Brad Sweet and Kevin Swindell are among the entries announced last week for the event, which is sanctioned by USAC, BMARA, POWRi and the Southern Midget Racing Series.
NHRA Awards Ceremony Set For Nov. 17 In L.A.
GLENDORA, Calif. — The 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series Awards Ceremony will be held Nov. 17 at the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City.
The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series Awards Ceremony will feature a pre-event cocktail reception at 5 p.m., formal sit-down banquet at 6 p.m., and an after party. The voice of NHRA, veteran announcer Bob Frey, will serve as emcee. The Lucas Oil Drag Racing Drag Racing Series awards presentation and party will take place prior to the night’s festivities at the nearby Sheraton Universal Hotel, which is within walking distance to the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City.
East Alabama To Host Helton Memorial Race
ATLANTA — East Alabama Motor Speedway will host the inaugural O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series Randy Helton Memorial Race on Saturday.
The race is named in honor of Helton, a regular driver with the USCS for the past decade who died March 30 at the age of 47. Prior to his career as a driver, Helton was also the crew chief for several seasons for USCS Founder and President Pete Walton. Commemorative trophies and plaques are among the special awards slated for the memorial race.
Also scheduled for Saturday at East Alabama Motor Speedway, which is located seven miles west of Phenix City, Ala., on U.S. 80 West, is the Randy Scott Memory Dash. Scott, who died in April at the age of 60, retired four years ago to help his son, Jeremy. Jeremy Scott will be competing in the event.
Injured Wolfe Out Indefinitely After Crash
CONCORD, N.C. — Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series rookie Lucas Wolfe will be out indefinitely after sustaining a fractured T-4 vertebrae in his back during a June 8 crash at Tri-City Speedway in Illinois.
Wolfe returned home June 10 to Mechanicsburg, Pa., where he is awaiting another doctor’s visit to receive further prognosis and an estimated time of recovery.
“I’m hoping this is brief and I can get back out there soon,” he said.
The Allebach Racing team for which he drives has also returned to Pennsylvania and will not return to action until Wolfe is healed and ready to race again.
Valvoline Challenge Winner To Get Mustang
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Valvoline will offer up a 2008 Roush Mustang GT-V customized by the legendary R.J. de Vera to the winner of the Valvoline Challenge Dec. 20.
