WCVision has secured the long-term marketing and licensing rights for the Speed World Challenge racing series. The agreement is designed to provide increased business and marketing resources for the series. . . MESCO Building Solutions is the sponsor of the $10,000 Grand Am KONI Challenge Series Rookie-of-the-Year award. Both GS and ST class drivers are eligible for the award. . . The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation is seeking volunteers for its activities schedule during the upcoming Knoxville Nationals, Aug. 6-9. For information, contact Lori DeMoss at ldemoss@sprintcarhof.com or at (800) 874-4488. . . Former driver and Benton (Ill.) Raceway owner Cliff Cockrum died June 27. He was buried on July 1 in Benton. He was 69 years old. During his racing career, Cockrum raced 70 different tracks around the country. Donations in his memory can be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois . . . James White, 19, of Southhampton, Long Island, N.Y., was severly burned in a demo-derby crash Saturday night at Riverhead Raceway. His car exploded on impact. He was taken by helicopter to an area hospital, where he was reported to be in serious condition but conscious . . . Racing enthusiast and former secretary/treasurer of the Quarter Midgets of America Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Nuckles died June 25 and was buried in Columbus, Ohio, June 28. She was 77. Nuckles was inducted into the Quarter Midgets of America Hall of Fame in 2007. Donations in her memory can be made to Home Reach Hospice in Columbus, Ohio.
