His multiple victories during the winter season in Australia included his fifth straight in the International.
2. Dario Franchitti
The 2007 Indianapolis 500 and IndyCar Series champion co-drove the Chip Ganassi Racing entry to victory in the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
3. Jimmie Johnson
The defending Sprint Cup champion teamed with Alex Gurney, Jon Fogarty and Jimmy Vasser to finish second in the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
4. Alex Gurney/Jon Fogarty
The defending Grand Am champions started off the new season by finishing second in the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
5. Jeff Gordon
Gordon sat out the Rolex 24 this year, but will be among the favorites when the NASCAR season kicks off with the Daytona 500 Feb. 17.
6. Kimi Raikkonen
Raikkonen will carry the title World Driving Champion for the first time when the Formula One season opens in March.
7. Tony Schumacher
The four-time NHRA Top Fuel champion showed speed right out of the box, leading testing at Firebird Int’l Raceway in Arizona.
8. Damion Gardner
Gardner won January’s biggest race, the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals. He gets back on the track in mid-February.
9. Jimmy Owens
Owens started off the new season on a tear, winning back-to-back races at Georgia’s Golden Isles Speedway.
10. Sebastien Bourdais
The four-time defending Champ Car World Series champion moves to the Toro Rosso Formula One team for 2008.
Honorable Mention
Sylvain Tremblay, David Haskell, Nick Ham and Raphael Matos drove their Speed Source Mazda to victory in the GT portion of the Rolex 24 At Daytona over the weekend at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
