U.S. Army Dragster, NHRA Top Fuel
With two events remaining on the NHRA schedule, Schumacher is poised to end his record-breaking season with a fifth-straight Top Fuel Championship and sixth overall, which would break yet another record set by the legendary Joe Amato.
2. Scott Dixon
No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Dallara-Honda, IndyCarSeries
Dixon finally gets back on track for a non-points event Down Under at Surfers Paradise, Australia, Saturday night.
3. Jimmie Johnson
No. 48 Chevrolet, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Barring a comeback by Greg Biffle, Johnson will join Cale Yarborough as the only drivers to win three-straight Cup championships.
4. Donny Schatz
No. 15 J&J Sprint Car, World of Outlaws
Schatz failed to crack the top 10 in a pair of WoO events this past week, finishing 15th and 13th in two races.
5. Kyle Busch
No. 18 Toyota, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Seemingly lost in Busch’s surprising collapse during The Chase are his 20 victories this season among NASCAR’s top-three touring series.
6. Carl Edwards
No. 99 Ford, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Edwards finished third Sunday at Martinsville, but still lost ground to winner and Sprint Cup point leader Jimmie Johnson.
7. Justin Allgaier
No. 16 Dodge, ARCA RE/MAX Series
With his ARCA RE/MAX championship in hand, Allgaier will make his second Nationwide Series start with Team Penske Nov. 1 at Texas.
8. Benny Gordon
No. 66 Ford, USAR Hooters Pro Cup
Gordon’s dominance of the Hooters Championship Series ended with an eighth-place finish at Kenly, N.C., Saturday night.
9. Jason Meyers
No. 14 KPC Sprint Car, World of Outlaws
A pair of fifth-place finishes gave the oh-so-steady Meyers 47 top fives on the season, including eight victories.
10. Lewis Hamilton
No. 22 Vodaphone McLaren Mecedes, Formula One
Hamilton’s fifth victory of the season came Sunday in China. He needs a fifth-place finish at Brazil to clinch the World Driving Championship.
Honorable Mention
Randy Cabral clinched the NEMA title with his eighth victory of the season Saturday . . . ISMA star Chris Perley won the World Series of Racing at Thompson, Conn., for the fifth time in his career.
