U.S. Army Dragster, NHRA Top Fuel
Schumacher’s amazing run of consecutive victories as well as consecutive round wins came to a halt Sunday at Dallas. Prior to Sunday’s final-round defeat, Schumacher had won 31-straight rounds on his way to seven-straight victories.
2. Scott Dixon
No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Dallara-Honda, IndyCar Series
The IndyCar Series champion now awaits a non-points race in Surfers Paradise, Australia, and the arrival of new teammate Dario Franchitti.
3. Kyle Busch
No. 18 Toyotas, NASCAR Sprint Cup/Nationwide Series
Busch’s Nationwide Series victory at Dover extended his record to 19 among NASCAR’s top three series, but now he’s last in The Chase.
4. Carl Edwards
Nos. 99/60 Fords, NASCAR Sprint Cup/Nationwide Series
Edwards took over The Chase lead with a third-place finish and cut into Clint Bowyer’s Nationwide Series lead by finishing fifth.
5. Jimmie Johnson
No. 48 Chevrolet, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
With The Chase under way, Jimmie Johnson has returned to the front of the pack with a fifth-place finish at Dover.
6. Donny Schatz
No. 15 J&J Sprint Car, World of Outlaws
After a fourth-place finish at Eldora, Schatz finished a disappointing 13th at Lebanon Valley, but maintains his points lead.
7. Benny Gordon
No. 66 Ford, USAR Hooters Pro Cup
Gordon has won the first two races in the four-race Hooters Pro Cup championship series, giving him five victories in his last six races.
8. Jason Meyers
No. 14 KPC Sprint Car, World of Outlaws
Meyers’s week included a near-miss Sunday at Lebanon Valley. He settled for second- and fifth-place finishes this past week.
9. Helio Castroneves
No. 3 Team Penske Dallara-Honda, IndyCar Series
With no “Dancing with the Stars” to occupy him, Castroneves must wait for the IRL’s trip to Australia for a non-points race.
10. Jac Haudenschild
No. R19 Maxim Sprint Car, World of Outlaws
Haudenschild nipped Jason Meyers by .014 second Sunday for his fourth victory since Aug. 25.
HONORABLE MENTION
Greg Biffle won his second-straight Sprint Cup race and is tied for second in The Chase. . . Danny Smith’s back-to-back victories with the Midwest All Star Series gives him 22 overall wins on the season.
LAST WEEK
Benny Gordon enters the rankings for the first time as Johnny Benson exits thanks to a 27th-place finish. Jac Haudenschild also enters at No. 10, while Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson trade places.
