Through The Lens: Greg Sacks
A successful Northeastern modified racer, Greg Sacks made the rise to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series in the early 1980s.
Now 54, Sacks still dabbles in stock-car racing, making occasional starts in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and in Nextel Cup.
The highlight of Sacks’s career came at Daytona Int’l Speedway when he drove a research and development car fielded by DiGard Racing to victory in the Firecracker 400.
It was his lone Cup Series victory in 263 career starts.
Sacks ran his first full season in the Cup Series in 1984 and was runner-up to Rusty Wallace in the rookie-of-the-year chase.
While racing modifieds, Sacks won 17 races at Stafford (Conn.) Motor Speedway between 1980 and 1983.
