Through The Lens: Jerry Coons, Jr.

Arizona native Jerry Coons, Jr. first stepped into a midget at age 14 and has steadily become one of open-wheel racing’s most consistent performers.
Coons won the USAC National Midget Series championship in 2006 and leads the 2007 standings with four victories, including his second Belleville Midget Nationals championship. Coons has also won in the sprint-car and Silver Crown divisions this season. The Silver Crown triumph at Eldora was his first in the series.
Coons, 35, owns 14-career USAC midget triumphs and also has five wins in the sprint-car division and one in Silver Crown.
Coons has won numerous races with other sanctioning bodies including Badger, POWRi and the AMRA.
