Button Gets First Pole Since 2009

SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium — McLaren’s Jenson Button dominated qualifying for the Shell Belgian Grand Prix Saturday afternoon at the famed Spa Circuit.

It was Button’s first pole since 2009 and his first with McLaren.

Button drove to a one minute, 47.573 second lap to easily best Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi, who turned a circuit of one minute, 47.871 seconds.

Pastor Maldonado qualified third for Williams Renault with Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen fourth and Kobayashi’s Sauber teammate Sergio Perez rounding out the top five.
