Vettel & Hamilton Lead Monza Sessions

MONZA, Italy – Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton each lead a practice session on the opening day of on-track activity at Autodromo Nazionale Monza ahead of the Italian Grand Prix.

Vettel was truly in a class of his own during the second practice session, blistering his Formula One foes with a 1:24.453 lap. Teammate Mark Webber was a close second with his lap of 1:25.076.

Lotus teammates Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean followed in third and fourth with, oddly, the exact same lap time. Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso completed the top five in the second practice.

In the morning session, Hamilton did everything he could to outpace the Red Bulls. Hamilton topped the times for Mercedes with his 1:25.565 lap, .035s faster than crowd favourite Alonso
