Vettel Sets The Pace In Texas

Sebastian Vettel was fastest in both United States Grand Prix practice sessions Friday at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

AUSTIN, Texas – Sebastian Vettel got up to speed quickly at Circuit of the Americas Friday, leading both Formula One World Championship sessions at the new venue.

Lewis Hamilton led the way for most of the first session, but in the final moments of practice Vettel stormed to the top of the podium with an impressive lap at 1:38.125.

Hamilton finished the session second with his fast lap of 1:39.543. He was followed by Vettel’s championship rival Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and Mark Webber.

The second session was all Red Bull, as teammates Vettel and Webber controlled the top two spots on the practice sheet. Vettel was fastest at 1:37.718, followed by Webber’s 1:38.475.

Alonso, Hamilton and Button completed the top five in the second session.

Formula One squads have one more practice Saturday to learn the new track before qualifying begins for the United States Grand Prix tomorrow afternoon.
