LEXINGTON, Ohio – Polesitter Gabby Chaves led all 40 laps to win the Firestone Indy Lights Mid-Ohio 100 for his first victory in the series on Saturday afternoon at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Chaves, driving the No. 7 Schmidt Peterson with Curb-Agajanian car, had three second-place finishes and three third-place finishes in the eight previous races. Peter Dempsey finished second in the No. 5 Belardi Auto Racing car.

“I crossed the finish line and I didn’t have words. I was just screaming. That’s all I was doing, just screaming,” Chaves said. “The feeling of winning, especially when it was so hard, when you come so long and worked so hard to get here, makes it so much more special.”

Jack Hawksworth finished third, followed by Carlos Munoz and Zach Veach.

The finish:

Gabby Chaves, Peter Dempsey, Jack Hawksworth, Carlos Munoz, Zach Veach, Juan Pablo Garcia, Axcil Jefferies, Sage Karam, Jorge Goncalvez, Matthew Di Leo, Giancarlo Serenelli.
