LONG BEACH, Calif. – Starting from the pole, Carlos Munoz wired Sunday’s Firestone Indy Lights event on the Steets of Long Beach.

Munoz dominated the event, leading every lap to score his fourth career Indy Lights victory in his 15th series start. It is his second victory of the 2013 season and second-straight overall.

“In the beginning I think I did a really good start, so Jack (Hawksworth) got nervous or something and there was a big crash behind me, I don’t know what really happened I just saw it in the mirrors,” Munoz said. “After that it was my race, I knew that Peter (Dempsey) and Jack were some of my two biggest competitors on the track for the championship and they were out, so I was taking it easy. The main key was to finish, but it was a really good car for a second victory of the season, I had a really great car.”

Gabby Chaves finished second, followed by Sage Karam, Jorge Goncalvez and Matthew Di Leo.

The finish:

Carlos Munoz, Gabby Chaves, Sage Karam, Jorge Goncalvez, Matthew Di Leo, Juan Pablo Garcia, Mikael Grenier, Zach Veach, Peter Dempsey, Jack Hawksworth.
