Pelfrey Performance Driver Camp Announced

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Pelfrey Performance, Team Pelfrey’s young driver program and corporate entertainment branch, is delighted to announce its first driver development camp.

The focus will be very much on drivers competing on the karting scene and in lower level open wheel categories, and the aim is to provide these young drivers with an insight into what it takes to compete on the Mazda Road to Indy. Funding is the biggest hurdle in the way of many drivers, and as a result, Pelfrey Performance wants to highlight the importance of marketing, series/team selection, budgeting, etc., in addition to the driving skills required.

With the camp utilizing Andersen RacePark (Palmetto, Fla.) as the hub for its inaugural development camp, the following aspects of what it takes to compete successfully on the Mazda Road to Indy will be covered:

Climbing the Mazda Road to Indy

Where to start, series/team selection & the importance of learning

Go-Karting

Participants will receive time in both 4 and 2 stroke karts, courtesy of Andersen RacePark, to break up the day and enjoy some friendly competition out on track

Marketing & Financial Planning

Funding & racing go hand-in-hand, so what does the Mazda Road to Indy give YOU access to? Who do you approach? Why do you approach them? When do you approach them?

Fitness & Nutrition

Preparation & diet is key, participants will be put through a light workout to demonstrate the importance of fitness in racing

Running the camp will be former Firestone Indy Lights and Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series driver Anders Krohn, as well as Jonathan Baker, who was the director of driver development for Andersen Racing’s Pro Mazda and Indy Lights teams following a successful racing career of his own and now leads the events program at Andersen RacePark.
