by NSSN Staff
INDIANAPOLIS – IndyCar, the sanctioning body of the IZOD IndyCar Series, announced today a penalty following post-race technical inspection June 23 of the Iowa Corn Indy 250 at Iowa Speedway.
The No. 77 entry of Schmidt Hamilton Motorsports driven by Simon Pagenaud has been fined $5,000 for not complying with Rule 14.7.2: the maximum capacity of the fuel cell shall be 18.5 U.S. Gallons.
IndyCar officials determined that the discrepancy in the size of the fuel cell had no impact on the race result of the No. 77 car.
