INDIANAPOLIS – IndyCar, the sanctioning body of the IZOD IndyCar Series, has penalized the race-winning team from Saturday’s Firestone 550 at Texas Motor Speedway.

The No. 3 Team Penske car driven by Helio Castroneves was fined $35,000 and docked 15 entrant points for not complying with Rule 14.6.6.14 (Underwing).

Members may contest the imposition of the penalty pursuant to the procedures and timelines detailed in the protest and appeal sections of the IZOD IndyCar Series rulebook.

This is far from the first penalty Penske Racing has been hit with in 2013, but it is the first against one of the Penske IZOD IndyCar Series teams. Penske’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series operation has been hit with multiple penalties during the 2013 season.
