SAO PAULO, Brazil – Ryan Hunter-Reay collected his second pole of the 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series Saturday, setting the fastest time in qualifying for the Itaipava Sao Paulo Indy 300 on the Streets of Sao Paulo.

Hunter-Reay’s lap of 1:20.431 at 113.508 established a track record on the street circuit, eclipsing the previous mark set by Will Power. He also won the pole at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Ala., in early April.

“I gave it everything I had and it’s great to get the DHL Chevrolet up front again and on pole,” Hunter-Reay said. “That’s three of the four races this year that we’ve been on the front row and twice on pole. I’m so happy for the guys and everything they’ve done for me.

“Tomorrow’s when (we face) the challenge though. We thought we had a good car at Long Beach, and once we got into the race, I knew we were challenged and would be for the rest of the day. We need to make sure we’ve fixed those things this time and go out and have a great race. Starting on pole here is a challenge because you are a sitting duck out front on the long straights,” Hunter-Reay said.
