A. Dillon Schools Volusia Modified Foes

BARBERVILLE, Fla. — Ty Dillon started on the pole for Tuesday’s DIRTcar UMP modified event at Volusia Speedway Park, but it was his brother Austin Dillon that ended the evening in victory lane.

A. Dillon, passed his brother in turn one on the third lap of the 20-lap feature and drove to victory in the first of 12-straight nights of racing for the modifieds at the half-mile oval as part of the DIRTcar Nationals.

“It seems like I always finish second in points here,” A. Dillon said. “I’m just trying to move up one more spot.”

Corey Conley started 21st and drove his way to a second-place finish ahead of NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer, who started 17th. Peyton Taylor finished fourth ahead of Joey Jensen in fifth.

In addition to the modifieds, several World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series teams took part in three hot lap sessions in advance of Friday’s World of Outlaws opener at Volusia. Sam Hafertepe, Jr. set fast time with a 13.331-second lap.
