Badger Returning To Angell Park
SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — The Badger Midget Auto Racing Ass’n will return to its former home at Angell Park Speedway for several events during the 2011 season.
Officials with Angell Park Speedway confirmed the return of the BMARA with the release of its 2011 schedule, which included 10 BMARA events at the third-mile clay oval in Wisconsin.
As many as five of those events will be co-sanctioned alongside either USAC’s Regional Midget Series or Mopar National Midget Series.
The two groups ended their 63-year relationship at the beginning of the 2010 season when the two groups were unable to come to an agreement for a contract. The series was instead based at Beaver Dam (Wis.) Raceway for most of the season while traveling to other venues in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Angell Park Speedway officials created the Angell Park Speedway Auto Racing Ass’n to sanction Sunday-night midget racing after negotiations broke down between the two groups, but poor car counts and fan turnouts forced the track to put an end to weekly racing later in the season.
