PONTOON BEACH, Ill. — Darren Hagen won his second USAC Mopar National Midget Series feature in as many nights Friday at Tri-City Speedway.

Hagen romped from 14th starting position to win the 25-lap feature on the second night of the Gold Crown Midget Nationals, which will pay $50,000 to Saturday night’s winner.

Hagen, who led all 25 laps of the three-eighths-mile oval on Thursday, took the lead from Jerry Coons, Jr. on lap 15 and paced the remainder of the event in his RFMS Spike/Esslinger Ford.

He was the top point earner during the first two nights of competition. Coons finished second with point-leader Bryan Clauson, Davey Ray and Steve Buckwalter rounding out the top five.
