Schrader, Dillons Split Triple Mod Features
BARBERVILLE, Fla. — Austin Dillon, Ken Schrader and Ty Dillon capped off the DIRTcar UMP modified portion of the DIRTcar Nationals by winning Triple 25 features at Volusia Speedway Park Tuesday night.
A. Dillon claimed the first 25-lap run, holding off fellow NASCAR competitor Clint Bowyer and Peyton Taylor for the victory. Bowyer and Taylor were no match for A. Dillon, who stretched his lead to more than half the track before caution flags negated his work.
“I really feel like we had the team to beat this week,” said A. Dillon. “Things just got away from us earlier in the week after we blew an engine.”
Bowyer, who won three races during eight nights of racing, claimed the overall UMP DIRTcar modified DIRTcar Nationals title.
In the second modified feature, Schrader led all 25 laps en route to victory over fellow NASCAR star Kenny Wallace. Schrader wound up second to Bowyer in the DIRTcar Nationals standings.
In the final modified feature T. Dillon, who won the Gator Championship for modifieds Monday night, equaled his brothers performance from earlier in the evening by grabbing the lead on lap four and motoring to victory. Michael Long made a last-ditch effort with five laps left, but ended up second.
