Supermodified Ace Russell Injured In Vegas
LAS VEGAS — Supermodified racer Jeff Russell was critically injured in an Oct. 30 crash at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
A front spindle broke on Russell’s machine sending him into the wall at a high rate of speed. He was cut out of the car and transported to Las Vegas Trauma Center.
His injuries were extensive. Russell underwent immediate brain surgery, which included fixing a couple bleeds and removing a couple clots. As well, a small piece of his skull was removed to relieve the pressure from his swollen brain.
He also suffered a fractured vertebrae, broken arm, broken leg, broken ribs and bruised lungs.
As of Nov. 10, Russell remained sedated in the hospital as he is treated for his injuries and complications from them including pneumonia.
