Ten Events For Hawkeye Dirt Tour
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour for modifieds will host 10 events throughout Iowa this season, including visits to four new venues.
The series, in its second year, opens May 10 at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa. From Webster City, the tour will travel to I-35 Speedway in Mason City, Iowa, May 30 and Cedar County Raceway in Tipton, Iowa, June 14.
Cresco (Iowa) Speedway June 23, Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa, June 30, Algona (Iowa) Raceway July 4, Hancock County Speedway in Britt, Iowa, July 21, Farley (Iowa) Speedway Sept. 16-17, and Marshalltown (Iowa) Speedway Sept. 23-24 complete the 10-race schedule.
“In addition to Hamilton County, three other tracks will host a Hawkeye Dirt Tour event for the first time this year, Cedar County, Algona and Farley,” said HDT Race Director Bucky Doren. “The Yankee Dirt Track Classic at Farley will also be the first time the HDT and the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models have been scheduled at the same track on the same night.”
All 10 races are qualifying events for 2011 or 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballots. At each event, IMCA National, North Central Region and Iowa State points will be awarded.
The race day payout has been increased, with each event paying a minimum of $1,000 to win and $200 for 10th. All drivers qualifying for the HDT A-Main earn a minimum of $150. The series champion becomes eligible to qualify for the Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions at the 2012 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.
