Winter Freeze Gets Wet
SYLVANIA, Ga. — Due to significant rain moving through the area and a very wet and slick track, Screven Motor Speedway was forced to postpone Thursday night’s Winter Freeze.
The rain came after qualifying and heats were completed for the sprint cars and heat races were continuing for late models. Both features were scheduled to pay $10,000 to the winner.
The event will now be made up Nov. 2, the Wednesday night prior to the World Finals at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The sprint car feature is set from Thursday’s preliminaries, but a full program will be run for late models Nov. 2.
David Gravel was fast qualifier for the 24-car sprint-car feature, with Danny Smith, Danny Lasoski and Greg Hodnett winning heats. Dale Blaney won the dash and was scheduled to start on the pole for the feature with Terry McCarl joining him on the front row.
