Mustang Club Will Celebrate 50 Years At CMS
CONCORD, N.C. – The Mustang Club of America is celebrating its 50th birthday in 2014 and will do so by hosting twin 50th birthday celebrations April 16-20 at two of America’s top race tracks.
Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C., will serve as the east coast host and Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway will be the host on the west coast. Charlotte Motor Speedway was introduced as the east coast host during a press conference on Tuesday.
Mustang enthusiasts from all over the world are expected to attend both Mustang 50th Birthday Celebrations.
“We’ve been here twice before, that was in 1994 and 1999 for the 30th and 35th (birthdays), and those were great events,” said Ron Bramlett, chairman of the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration committee. “This area has got a lot of Mustangs in it and it has got a lot of enthusiasts. It is easy to get to for people from anywhere east of the Mississippi. It is also going to bring a lot of people from the West Coast, we know that for a fact.”
The Celebration is set to begin with Pony Drives from nine cities in the United States converging at Norman, Okla., for a kick-off party on April 11-12, 2014. From there, approximately 1,000 Mustangs are expected to arrive in Concord on the evening of April 16. Between 6,000 and 7,000 Mustangs will be displayed inside and outside of Charlotte Motor Speedway during the celebration in addition to vendors and visiting Mustang enthusiasts.
Open track sessions will be an integral part of the activities at both locations. Many other activities including dinners, tours and concerts will be announced once details are finalized.
“Cabarrus County is a destination that holds both history and horsepower in high regard,” said Donna Carpenter, President/CEO of the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We’re thrilled to welcome the Mustang Club of America to celebrate the 50th Birthday of the Ford Mustang next year. We’re certain that Mustang enthusiasts will feel right at home in Concord—Speed City, USA.”
Registration for the event is open and forms are available online. As more details become available, information will be posted to the official Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration website, www.Mustang50thBirthdayCelebration.com.
“These events, you will meet people that you would have never met before and they will become life-long friends,” Bramlett said. “The lifestyle is you buy the car, you enjoy it, you keep on it, you join the club, you work within the club to promote and then the club becomes a big extended family. That is what the MCA is.”
