PHOTOS: 1990 U.S. Grand Prix
Ayrton Senna opened the 1990 Formula One season with a victory in the Iceberg USA Grand Prix weekend in Phoenix. Driving a McLaren, the Brazilian bested rookie driver Jean Alesi of France and Thierry Bousten of Belgium in the second running of the U.S. grand prix on the streets of the Arizona city. The Trans-Am series shared the card with Formula One, with Finnish racer Robert Lappalainen notching his first Trans-Am triumph to kick off the 25th year of Trans-Am competition.
