IUPUI, USAC Teaming At Indy Speedrome
INDIANAPOLIS — The USAC Regional Midget Series, which competes regularly at Indianapolis Speedrome, will receive support from Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) under a new cooperative agreement.
IUPUI will coordinate involvement by students from the university who will have opportunities to work in a number of capacities associated with the events. The participating students will have the opportunity to enroll either for internship credits or as part of a directed study course at IUPUI.

Johanna Long became only the second female driver in history to capture the Snowball Derby for late models Saturday night at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fla. Long, a former Blizzard Late Model Series champion at the venue, held off Donnie Wilson to join Tammy Jo Kirk as the only female winners of the historic event.

The University of Northwestern Ohio will become an associate sponsor on Terry McMillen’s NHRA Top Fuel dragster next year…Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn., formerly Mountain Raceway Park, will feature the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series late models as its top division next season…The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt Series has named Mike Strevel its new series director…The 23rd running of the Glass City 200 for late models at Toledo (Ohio) Speedway is scheduled for Oct. 1…Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, will host its annual banquet Jan. 22 at the Eldora Ballroom…C.E. It will be followed by the monthly meeting of the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club…4 Speed Promotions and Gary Wright will hold a sprint-car chassis clinic Jan. 14 at Tulsa Select’s Navajo Room in Tulsa, Okla.
