Tenth Thiel Memorial Scheduled For July 1-2
BEAVER DAM, Wis. — The 10th annual Sue Thiel Memorial will feature an expanded two-day schedule next year, including five divisions of racing July 1-2 at Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway.
The IRA Sprint Car Series, Midwest Sprintcar Ass’n, Mid-American Stock Car Series late models, midgets and modifieds will each compete in features during the event. More than $70,000 in prizes will be handed out.
Industry Roundtable At PRI
LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. — Motorsports leaders from around the world will converge on the PRI Trade Show for the annual Industry Roundtable Dec. 8 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. Among those taking part in the roundtable are IndyCar Series CEO Randy Bernard, American Le Mans Series CEO Scott Atherton, I-55 Raceway owner Ken Schrader and Executive Vice President and General Manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway Jerry Gappens.
Three Added To NEAR 2011 Class
EAST WINDSOR, Conn. — Pioneering New England modified star Danny Galullo, early car owner Louie D’Amore and racer Buddy Bardwell have been added to the New England Auto Racing’s 2011 Hall of Fame class by the organization’s veterans committee. The trio will join nine (Punky Caron, Dan Meservey, Russ Nutting and Jerry Dolliver; car owners Rich and Ray Garuti, Stanley Matczak, Vic Kangas; and Speedway Scene publisher Val Lesieur) previously selected nominees at the 14th annual induction banquet Jan. 30 at La Renaissance Banquet Hall. Carl Edwards returned to his winning ways in dominating fashion last weekend at Phoenix Int’l Raceway in Avondale, Ariz. Not only did Edwards win Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race, but he also won Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event from the pole after leading every practice session throughout the weekend.
