SuperFans Contest Goes Green At NSSN
BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. – With the regular racing season winding down rapidly, the “bench racing” season is in full swing. And nowhere is it busier than in Ballston Spa, N.Y., where longtime National Speed Sport News columnist Ron Hedger is gathering entries for his annual SuperFans contest.
With trophies for the winner’s sponsored by Tim Frost’s National Speedway Directory, the “Bible” of SuperFans, the yearly review of who went to the most races across America and their ratings of the programs they enjoyed, will be revealed by NSSN in February.
Participants view an amazing number of races, with 2011 Professional division winner Ed Reichert of Spooner, Wis., catching 159 events and Amateur kingpin Dave Garrison of Bedford, Ky., right behind him with 156 races.
“Professionals” gain admission via press pass or employment while “Amateurs” pay their way in, with entrants in both groups identifying races they loved or hated, the nation’s best and worst facilities and other insights into attending a great many races, not the least of which is the cost and travel involved.
Entries can be sent to Hedger by e-mail at rjhmedia@juno.com or by regular mail at 20 Everson Way, Ballston Spa, NY 12020 with a deadline of Jan. 20, 2012.
