MXSports Issues Penalties To Alessi Family
Officials with MXSports, who organize the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross tour, have handed down stiff penalties against Mike Alessi, his brother Jeff Alessi and his father Tony Alessi following last Saturday’s race at Washougal National.
Jeff Alessi was accused of using a green laser light to attempt to distract at least two riders, one of which was Ryan Villopoto. Following an investigation of the incident, series officials have issued the following punishments to Jeff Alessi:
- Jeff Alessi’s eligibility to obtain an AMA Pro Racing Motocross License or MX Sports Pro Racing credential is suspended indefinitely.
- Jeff Alessi is suspended indefinitely from attending further AMA Pro Motocross events and from possessing an MX Sports credential of any kind.
- A fine of $500.
Team Moto Concept Team Manager Tony Alessi was also penalized as a result of the incident. Tony Alessi’s penalties included:
- Suspension from attending the remainder of the events for the 2013 race season and from possessing an MX Sports credential of any kind. Violation of this suspension will constitute trespass.
- Level 3 Team Manager credential revoked and will not be re-issued for the remainder of the 2013 race season.
Series officials also issued a $10,000 fine to Mike Alessi, stating that he is responsible for the actions of his crew and is therefor held responsible.
Mike Alessi must pay the fine prior to the next Lucas Oil Pro Motocross event. He was also stripped of all Lucas Oil Pro Motocross championship points he earned during the Washougal National.
A second $5,000 fine was suspended pending successful completion of a one-year probationary period.
Lastly, all credentials issued to Team Moto Concepts Racing have been revoked pending receipt of payment of the $10,000 fine issued to Mike Alessi.
