Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin, who was recently crowned the King of Geneva, will miss months of action during the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season due to a torn ACL.

Musquin suffered the injury during a recent practice ahead of the 2014 Supercross season. He’s set to undergo surgery for the injury in France, but torn ACLs often take months to heal 100 percent and it remains to be seen when the KTM rider will be able to return to the track.

Musquin sustained the injury after putting his foot down in a turn and it was first thought to be a minor injury at first according to a team press release. Later scans revealed the extent of the damage. Musquin finished the 2013 250 Supercross East division just three points shy of the title and was a favorite among the class to contend for the championship in 2014.
